Hey lovelies!
Autumn (Fall) is slowly creeping up on us (seriously guys, where has all the time gone!) and I can only think about cosy knits…lots and lots of cosy knits. I’ve been working on some designs lately and I can’t wait to share them with you guys.
Speaking of cosy knits, I have a few balls of The Petite Wool from We Are Knitters (which is such a squishy and delightful yarn by the way) and after pondering on what to make with them, I decided to see what I could create with one ball out of my stash. The result is this reversible knit cowl…I love one ball wonders! This cowl is a quick and easy project, which is perfect for beginners; more importantly, it is uber cosy and great for those cold autumn and winter months. So, let’s do this!
Supplies & tools:
- 1 ball of We Are Knitters’ the petite wool
- US 7mm 32″ circular needles
- Stitch marker
- Darning/tapestry needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
CO – cast on
K – knit
P – purl
Rep – repeat
Skill level: Beginner
Pattern:
CO 124 sts, place stitch marker and join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist stitches
Round 1–5: *K1, P1; rep from * around
Round 6: K1 around
Round 7: *K4, P1; rep from * around, ending K4
Round 8–12: Repeat round 7
Round 13: *P4, K1; rep from * around, ending with P4
Round 14–18: Repeat round 13
Round 19–30: Repeat round 7–18
Round 31: K1 around
Round 32–35: *K1, P1; rep from * around
Bind off and weave in all ends
That’s it, you’re done. You can rock this baby during the colder months or make one (or two, three, four…) as a gift. The yarn is quite stretchy as well so you can wrap the cowl round your neck twice as below.
Pattern note: You can adjust the pattern (less wide or wider) by casting on a multiple of 5 stitches plus 4. To make the scarf higher, repeat round 7–18 until you have the height you want. Don’t forget you’ll need more than one ball of yarn if you would like the cowl wider or higher.
Here are a few more pictures of the cowl..
